low echoic area...

hi!im new here.am a fil based here in tokyo.i had a breast ultrasound just part of a routine check.while having the transducer on my left nipple i felt pain beneath my nipple.and the result says something about a LOW ECHOIC AREA.other words were in jap writings so i wasnt able to read.btw that was what was written in my referral to a big hospital in tokyo.i had a mammo and had an ultrasound again after 17days from my first.and there was a pain again beneath my left nipple.i wonder its only during ultrasound that it hurts.normally it doesnt hurt.i also saw the image of my first ultrasound.theres a circle dark spot.maybe that is what beneath my nipple.and theres 1cm lump that they found.does this mean cancer?why does it hurt beneath my left nipple during ultrasound?what does low echoic area means?im so scared.the results wont come til next week.pls help if u understand these things.btw im 46 y.o female.thank you all in advance

No, it doesn't necessarily mean cancer. A hypoechoic or low echoic area simply means that less echos are reflected from the Ultrasound than would normally be expected. If you experience pain during the ultrasound I would imagine that you would feel the same pain with any pressure put on that particular area. When you get your report be sure you get a full and detailed explanation of it from your prescribing Physician ... don't try to understand it yourself or search out each and every term.    Regards ....
