also the calcifications are in clusters

so far the docotors have been very fast with getting the results of the 1st and 2nd mammograms. I am just very concerned about the one cluster that they need to look into further.

Yes! the waiting is just awful... and indescribably nerve wracking. And, the not knowing beats you up, emotionally because it's the worse case scenario that we tend to dwell upon. I had calcifications in my right breast which, were biopsied twice. Once in 2005 and then, later in 2007. In both situations, my biopsy results returned benign. But, it's the waiting period where you don't know what the outcome will be that weighs on you. So, I know exactly how you feel and, my heart goes out to you. Thankfully, you're having your biopsy on Tuesday (next week?) And, the pathology findings should be available soon after. Once again, take care. My prayers are with you.

Hi,I know that the worst part is the waiting...we all had to go through this and by waiting, our mind will make us think that things are far worse than what they really are.You have joined a forum that is full of wonderful people caring for each other and that they will never tire to encourage you and give you comfort. If it gives you any comfort at all,I have a close friend of mine that was in your exact same situation. When the calcification (Tiny little dots) are grouped together, that's when they become suspicious and the radiologist usually orders a biopsy.Well, my friend had a biopsy and it turned out to be benign.80% of all biopsy are found to be benign.Take courage and try to think positive, because this will help you deal with the stressful period of waiting. Please let us know about the results of your biopsy,in the mean time let me wish you for a very good word we all love.. called BENIGN. Best wishes and God Bless you.

I didnt realize I didnt have all my information on my post. I have two calcifications one they said appears to be benign. the other is in question. I am having a biopsy done this tuesday. I am very worried about this. I know that if it is bad that it has been caught in time. But waiting for the results is a lot to take on. I really dont have anyone to talk to about this. I have two very close friends but Im sure they are tired of hearing me talk about it. Sometimes all you want is a hug and someone to tell you it will be okay. I know the biopsy will not hurt for the most part but like I said it is the wait.

The manner in which microcalcifications grow and cluster is always a concern; so, I'm sure that your doctors are considering the best way to approach this. The calcifications, in themselves, are rarely cancerous. However, they are an abnormality and, their appearance might suggest that something is amiss within the breast tissue. Possibly, more diagnostic testing (like an MRI) may or may not be your next step. But, once the doctors have the diagnostic images that they need, they'll discuss your options with you... such as having you undergo a biopsy procedure, or having you waiting a 6 month period then having you undergo another mammogram to note any changes? Take care... I hope that you have a favorable outcome.
