should I worry now

I had a baby 3 months ago and nursed him for 2 months when I began symptoms of a blocked milk duct in the left breast. I stopped nursing and still a month later I have a stinging pain that radiates into the armpit. No palpable lumps felt so I went to my primary who gave me abx for possible mastitis. no change in the pain so went for us. Radioligy says left breast is clear but the right showed a 1 to 2 mm nodule that looks benign. Now Im confused. Im trying to find answers to the pain on the left and turn up with something on the right. The radiologist did not recommend a biopsy nor a mammogram. Im going to have one anyway but is it wise to wait 6 months and repeat the us. this was the recommendation. I thought the pain was related to the breastfeeding but I just dont know anymore. The nodule is located at 9 o'clock on the right but it was not felt by me or my doctor. Should I have a biopsy even though its not recommended and how will I get an answer as to the left side pain.

thank you for your comment. I did make an appt with my OB and I toook  a course of antibiotics but the pain persists. As far as the nodule is concerned I thought US can detect if it is a solid or cyst and the report does not say a cyst so I bacame worried that its a solid mass even though it is small. Im not sure what other explaination there is besides the two. So if we know its not a cyst how can they be sure  a solid is not cancerous by just looking. I know the edges are considered but its scarry just to hear anything at all.     Thanks

I don't think the two are related in any way. The initial problem was probaly due to the fact that you did not empty the breast and stopping nursing was not the best thing to do in that circumstance. If you had an Ultrasound that showed this very tiny nodule I see no reason for a Mammogram and certainly no reason for a biopsy. The Radiologists do this every day and know when additional testing is needed. You might consider having your films read by another Radiologist if you aren't comfortable with the first opinion. The left sided pain may well be due to the mastitis situation .. it might not have cleared and may need some additional treatment. Have you considered seeing your OB/GYN about the problem ?    Regards ....
