Invasive lobular breast cancer

Has anyone's breast surgeon or another doctor suggest they have a double mastectomy following diagnosis
of Stage 2 Invasive Lobular breast cancer?   What are the risks of getting Lobular Cancer in the other breast?

I had bilateral mastectomies for stage 3 ILC. This cancer tends to go bilateral. You may think your surgeon is being overly dramatic but mine was the opposite. I asked for bilateral and he refused. So, 18 months later I had my second mastectomy and there were already two masses in that breast, both benign thank God. I had one breast for a year and a half. Then when I went for my reconstruction after chemo and rads, my scars are large.

One thing I will say is before I signed up for any surgery I'd check into reconstruction options first so that I went in with breasts and came out with breasts. The cosmetic outcome is much better doing it this way. Depending on what type of reconstruction option you choose you should only have a scar under your breast and maybe a small one up to your nipple. If you have to have radiation you may want to consider DIEP reconstruction. Here is a link to different types of reconstruction available. Feel free to ask questions and research everything! http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Breast-Cancer/Trans-flap-vs-implants/show/1308880?personal_page_id=384050

Best wishes!
