My friend had a surgical biopsy and was told it was benign, however she had atypia cells, also had been told moderate. The Doctor suggested preventative cemotherapy. She has other cancers in her family history.

Hi,

Atypia is the presence of abnormal cells in the tissue. Why was the surgical biopsy done?

The preventive chemotherapy has been suggested by her breast specialist or oncologist?

It would be best to discuss the case with an oncologist and take his/her opinion.

Do let us know how she is doing and what does the specialist say.

Regards.
