Lump under arm

Hi! I'm 24 years old and I have a gland under my arm that is palpable (about 1cm or less). It's non-tender, not really hard (a little hard but squishy if I push on it), easily moveable. I noticed it 4 years ago and it hasen't grown or changed. I talked to 2 doctors a few months ago, they both said it was nothing. Should I still be worried after all these years? Would it keep growing if it was something serious?

Hi,
This gland you mention is an axillary lymph node most probably. They are sometimes enlarged in benign conditions and it also could be a lipoma. As you say it has been there for 4 years and hasnt changed proves that you dont need to worry. Also the 2 doctors seem sure after a clinical evaluation that it should not be a cause of concern. You could have enlarged axillary lymph nodes if you have used a deodarant, done waxing or shaving in the under arm region. The most common cause of enlarged lymph nodes is infections. But in that case it is an acute condition, which usually resolves in a few weeks or after a course of antibiotics and does increase in size initially and might be painful or sore too. So yours is not an infective condition. Relax and report any change in size or shape to your doctor.

Hi,
The lump in the armpit is a benign swelling. This should not really concern you. This swelling may be a small fibroadenoma in the tail of the breast tissue, lipoma, or a lymph node.
