Malignant Phyllodes Tumor

At 12, I had a malignant phyllodes tumor removed. I have recently doing some research about this tumor. I understand malignant means cancerous, but I am unsure if it is just a freak tumor, or that I had breast cancer. Id really appreciate someone explaining it to me.

Thanks.

Phyllodes tumors are quite rare and can be maligant or benign. Even when benign they have the potential to become cancerous. They are always removed as this is the only treatment for this type of breast tumor; they do not respond to either Chemotherapy or Radiation. If your tumor was indeed "malignant" then you did have this rare form of breast cancer; these tumors only account for 1% of all breast cancers.
