Lumpectomy

My mum has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer known as DCIS and it is at stage 3. The breast clinic phoned her and said that they have found something on her chest that needs investigating. She has been called back to the breast clinic to discuss it with the surgeon, however this may mean she cannot have her lumpectory on Monday. Can someone please explain what this usually means and is it a possibiblty it is secondary cancer. Can someone please tell me what this usually means. Thank you

Hi.
How was your mother diagnosed with DCIS?  Perhaps you can also clarify what you meant by DCIS and stage 3 since DCIS is considered stage 0.  DCIS is a non-invasive cancer.
I agree with the previous post.  You need to ask your mother’s doctor regarding the findings on her chest and discuss thoroughly the treatment plan.
Take care.

There isn't any way for us to know what the breast clinic staff is talking about .... you should call them and ask for a detailed explanation of the problem. I don't know of anything that would interfere with her upcoming surgery or they would no doubt have cancelled the procedure. It would be a good idea for you to go to her appointment with her; both for your benefit as well as hers.  Regards ...
