I know microcalcifications are most often benign and a bloody nipple discharge is usually benign also, but I am wondering if the same is true when you have both of them together?
I had a magnified mammogram due to changes in existing microcalcifications that were spotted last year. I have them in a new area of my breast. While they were doing the imaging, the discharge came out quite profusely. It was a reddy brown color.
They are recommending I see a surgeon asap for the biopsy because of the discharge. I am getting ready to move out the area so I need to wait just a few weeks until I get to the new area.
I am just curious while I wait, if having both these things going on at the same time would increase the odds of a problem. My family doctor called me the day this happened and I just get the feeling they have a sense of urgency about this. (The only reason I am waiting is because the specialist I was referred to can't see me to look at the film until 3 days before I leave.) I'm setting up an apointment in the new area which will only add a few days delay.
