Zouzi is correct.
It is normal for many women to have some type of nipple discharge or fluid when their nipples/ breasts are squeezed. Squeezing the nipple sends a message to the brain and the pituitary gland responds by increasing prolactin levels, which in turn produces discharge from the nipple. Some weight lifting exercises can also stimulate the breasts to have a discharge, due to the pumping of the muscles.
Certain medications may also increase the likelihood of discharge (such as some blood pressure meds, birth control pills, antidepressants, and major tranquilizers) and there are certain times of life (due to hormone fluctuations) that discharge is more likely.
As zouzi also pointed out, nipple discharge is more of a concern when it is spontaneous (comes out by itself) and only involves one breast. In that case, a doctor definitely should be consulted.
Sorry "JingleBells52"...Nipple discharge can happen at any time(either by squeezing the nipple or spontaneously) also to women who are not breast feeding and the causes could be many....
Perhaps or maybe not. For sure you should be seen by your doctor right away because your nipple should not be leaking anything unless you are breastfeeding! Call doctor tomorrow!
Hi,
The majority of nipple discharges (from both nipples) are associated with hormonal imbalances and is a benign condition.
However, nipple discharge is of concern if it is on one side only and is spontaneously discharging without squeezing the nipple, is persistent, bloody, clear, watery or yellowish.
I would advise you to contact a breast Specialist for examination, tests and treatment (if necessary) as indicated by the results of the doctor's assessment.
I hope it's nothing serious, but please have this problem checked out.
Take care...
