I was diagnosed with Cancer in my left breast 4 weeks ago. After a pre surgery MRI I was told I needed an additional biopsy in my right breast. A very upsetting hit on top of the previous diagnosis.
I had a Right breast biopsy two weeks ago. It was on the bottom of the breast centered below the nipple, right near the rib cage. Immediatly following the procedure, I advised the nurse that my entire arm and chest was numb. She said it may have been because of the way I was positioned during the Procedure. I was told to move the muscles and massage it a little and it would go away. I had a great deal of bleeding after the biopsy and the steri strips that I was told to leave on for 3-4 days had to be replaced and a new dressing applied before I left the hospital. The deep dark purple bruse from the biopsy was as big as my fist. Most, of the numbness in the arm had gone away within a short time after I was home. The arm still does not feel right, but is usable. The main problem is I have a VERY strong VIBRATING in my right upper chest. It vibrates so strong that I expect to be able to touch it and have my hand move, but when I tough the vibrating area, I feel nothing but normal skin, no vibration. It is totally inside the nerves or muscles. The area it covers is from just over my breast up to the top of my shoulder and from and including the front of the ball of my shoulder to around the base of my neck and up my neck a little like a low turtle neck on the front 1/4 of my neck. This vibrating is not 100% of the time. It comes and goes. It is VERY disturbing as it may come on while sleeping and wake me with dreams of being choked. (imagind someone wraping a vibrater around the base of your neck while you are sleeping!) I cannot fall asleep during the vibrating periods and must lay wait for it to stop. It feels like someone is putting a hand massager on your body while you are sleeping, you immediately waken each time it happens during the night. It is bothersome trying to eat with a vibrator on your throat. The vibrating does NOT seem to have gotten ANY better over the last two weeks. It seems the same as day one. My regular Dr said it seems like the Dr may have touched the muscle wall in my chest, that it would go away. The Dr. that has done the proceedure has not called back at all. I have spoken to her nurse several times over the past two weeks. I was told to put a hot soak on the biopsy site each time. I have done this since first being told. The purple on the site has gone down quite a bit now after two weeks..
My question is....
I realize I am now stuck with this problem. I am told it will heal....eventually. How long does something like this tend to last? What can I do to speed the recovery? Certain vitamins? Exercise? Are chest exercises good or bad? What can I do mentally to keep me from thinking that if the Dr. actually gave me 15 minutes of their undivided attention during the biopsy I wouldn't have to deal with this at all? I REALLY am beginning to think that the Dr made a error by not paying attention to me and being disturbed a couple of times during the biopsy proceedure. Where would I get a straight answer? I am sure these things happen every day. But when these thing happen and the Dr. was disturbed several time, one must question?
