Odd mark on ariola

For about 5 months or so now I've had this really strange patch of skin on my right ariola.  It's almost perfectly round, the skin is slightly raised and hard, and it's now darker than the rest of the skin on my ariola.  Any ideas what this is?

Hi Brittain,

Welcome to the breast cancer community!  Glad you came here to try to get some answers.  I'm not an m.d. so I can't give you an official answer about decreased color in your areolas.  It is not something I've heard that is associated with cancer.  I'm wondering if you are losing some pigmentation.  I think your internal medicine physician or ob/gyne could put your mind at ease with a quick visit.

Warmly,

Chris

....I have lost the color in my areola's.  I am 61 years old. Is this something that happens with age?  Is this something I should be concerned about??
I appreciate any light you can shed on this subject.
Thanks,

Possible dry skin patch?  Could it have been a bug bite?  Just grasping at straws....check with your doctor.
