PBM questions...

Hi, i am a 41 yr old BRCA negative female who had 6 previous biopsys and 2 lumpectomys with a current breast lesion on the left side and a phyllodes tumor on the right side.  I choose to have a PBM on 8/3/09 with immed. implants.  I got the pathology back and i would just like get some clarifications on the pathology.  Both surgereons will only go on about what a smart decision that I made and I am happy with it but i would just like to know for myself and my 8 yr old daughter how dangerous were these results.
right side, phyllodes tumor 1.2 cm with biopsy site changes, moderate ductal epithelial hyperplasia, apocrine metaplasia, and sclerosing adenosis with microcalifications
left side - fibrocystic changes including sclerosing adenosis and moderate ductal epithelial hyperplasia with microcalcifications, small fibroadenoma .5 cm

Good to hear from you .... recovery is different for each of us and given some time things will seem normal again.   Take care but don't rush things.    All the BEST !!

Thanks Japdip.  Recovery is slower than I thought it would be but all in all, I think it was the right decision.

I see nothing to be particularly alarmed about in the Path report BUT with the number of biopsies and the 2 lumpectomies it was a wise decision to prevent the possible recurring surgeries. You do realize that with mastectomy you are not completely "home free" when it comes to breast cancer but the risk is certainly lowered be a great amount. Implants can also make it more difficult for any future discovery of an abnormality if it should occur. I'm still in favor of it in your case though.  Good Luck ....
