Pain after Lumpectomy and Reconstruction

Pain after Lumpectomy and Reconstruction

I am 3 weeks post op for a "generous" lumpectomy and breast reconstruction on both breasts.  My breasts are both still very painful (they feel inflamed) but don't look infected.  My doctor advised me to go back on antibiotics for another week.  The right breast (which had more tissue removed) has gotten a little more swollen over the last few days.  I did not have lymph nodes removed.  My question is:  how long is the pain in my breasts likely to last?  Most of the breast area feels numb to the touch, but the pain is still there--obviously from deeper in the breast.  I don't take pain meds, but am on Advil once or twice a day.

Could you give more info please? What kind of reconstruction did you have? Do you currently have drains in place? If so, what color fluid is draining? Are you running a fever? Do you have redness and if so, where?
