Post mastectomy questions

I have some questions that I am hoping that some of you can help me with.  Prior to my surgery I asked many, many questions of my doctors, medical support staff and survivor support group.  One area where I just didn't get much help had to do with the fact that I'm very large breasted and due to an childhood injury which left me with neck stiffness and some discomfort, I was very concerned about asymetry.
My surgeon suggested a wait and see approach post surgery of 3-6 months.  One of my medical advisors, along with one person from my support group asked me to consider a double mastectomy.  Everyone has told me that my case is special because none had had someone who was as large chested as I, except one who opted for the double mastectomy.
9 days ago I had a simple mastectomy of my right breast with a sentinel node biopsy.  The majority of the path report is in and is favorable.  I have, however, already begun to experience additional neck and upper back discomfort.
Have any of you had the experience of being very large breasted and opted for the single mastectomy?  Did you have asymetry difficulty afterwards?  Did you consider/have breast reduction in the remaining breast?  Any additional advice would be so appreciated.

Mastectomy for large breasted women who desire an implant may be difficult as there is a limit to the sizes of saline prosthesis. Generaly, the plastic surgeons try to match the body habitis with implant size. If you are large bodied and have large breast you may need masteopexy on the non -affected breast. If you are average or small size body , implants that are large for this body type are easier. If you need radiation, picture changes as the tissues are damaged and shrinkage will progress with time on the affected side. Hope this helps

I don't know if you plan on having reconstruction.  I had my masectomy on my right breast just five weeks ago, and haven't decided.  I'm sort of large breasted also and felt pretty lopsided, but about 10 days ago, after being fitted with a prosthetic, I'm back in balance and feel much better. Hope this helps.
