Pregnancy after bilateral tram flap

This is not really a question, but more of an answer. I know some women were asking if it is possible to have a pregnancy after a bilateral tram flap. In my case, the answer was yes. Even my obgyn and plastic surgeon had no experience with this situation before me, but we did the best we could. The pain was pretty unbearable in the last trimester, as the baby grew but there was no give from the mesh. The baby was delivered via c-section at 36 weeks. If anyone wants to know more details about my experience, please feel free to message me.

Hi brandy,

I'm 31year old and 17 weeks pregnant.  I had bilateral tram flap about 5 years ago.  I don't normally search web bc I find false info and unnecessary
Worry. However, I'm already feeling very uncomfortable and I'm not really even showing much.  I'm very tight and having severe back pain, so I'm worried how I'm going to get thru this when I get even bigger?  I'm seeing an ob group who has delivered one other tram pregnancy.  That patient had 3 prior pregnancies before trAm  and was able to deliver her third vaginal.  This is my first so I don't know if I'll be able to push with my weakened stomach and mesh.  The doctors not really sure either... I feel like I'm a guiny pig so it's scary.  Help?...

Thanks, Sue! I think I'm more stubborn than brave, but I really appreciate the compliment! :) I did have BRCA testing, and while I didn't test positive for either 1 or 2, a variant appeared on the results. I was told that they are tracking this variant and that there is a database for it because it is more common. Other than that, I have no further info.

Brandy,

Congratulations on the birth of your TramBaby! You're a brave woman :)

I know several women who've had babies after DIEP flap reconstruction but you're the first after Tram that I've heard about.

I read your profile and you are very young. You've had BRCA testing, yes? Are you BRCA 1 or BRCA 2?

Your family is beautiful :)
