hi Rosemary, I have had so many biopsies etc and 2 surgeries on my breast starting when I was 15 yrs old. My advice is to find the best dr you can and have second opinions. Fortunately I live in an area that has the best hospitals my breast center is located at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore Md. I no how scared you are as I have not only gone through this but also with ovarian tumors ( God does love me for saving my life with great drs.) I am here for you any way that I can help. I have been on Tamoxifen for 4 yrs and have 1 more to go. I have dense breasts so I have to have all the ways of mammograms. I believe the digiital ones are best. The ultrasound is uncomfortable but not really painfull. I have even had mri mammo's . Please let me know if you have any questions and I hope I can help you. Praying is also good for the mind and body. And we go through these things sometimes as a test of faith.
Hi,
It's not unusual to be called back when a mammogram shows a density that needs further investigation. What you'll be having is called a spot compression mammogram that will focus on the area of concern.Often it's the tissue that folds over on itself and causes a density or shadow to appear.A spot compression will often smooth out the tissue and the "density" will disappear. If this happens an ultrasound might not be needed. However if the density does not disappear, then further investigation will be needed.
Hoping that all will be just fine when you'll have the spot compression mammogram.
Best wishes.
