Scaly Skin

Hi, I'm 24 yrs old and i have white scaly skin around my nipple area!  I was wondering if you guys know what it could be?  I started noticing this change on my breats around November 2007.  My breast were itchy and scaly.  I went to my family doctor in December.  He check my breast to see if he could fin lumps but he did not.  He gave me a lotion to apply for two weeks two times a day.  I did that but my breasts remained the same.  Then i went on vacation and forgot about it.  I really did not want to remember that i had that problem.  I got back from vacation and one night i started feeling my breast and i notice a bump on my right breast and another on  my left breast.  I also notice that my breast hurt really bad some times and they still do.  Went to the doctor again he did a check up and again he told me that he did not feel anything.  He gave me a order to get a mamogram.  So i went to the hospital they took me to the room but they refuse to give me a mamogram.  They told me that i'm too young and that i don't have a family history of breast cancer or any other cancer.  However i'm still worried and scare.  I don't know what to do.  Can you guys help me out!

Thanks,

Hi Sofi519,

Did you notice any discharge from your breasts? Did you sustain any injuries or trauma at the site during this period? Did the "bumps" change in size or shape with your menstrual cycles? Did the pain also change similarly?

Your doctor was right in suggesting you a mammogram to find out in detail about this. The scaly skin also needs examination and therefore it would be best if you could revisit and ascertain the cause. The doctor may or may not notice the lump on examination and a mammogram would throw some light there.

Hope this helped.

Best regards.

I definitely second Kelleen's comment. A doctor should never dismiss you because of your age, especially when you have a doctor's order to receive one. I would suggest going to another doctor if at all possible.

I think you should look up Paget's Disease on line and see a different Dr.  Never let them tell you it's nothing without proving it!
