Sister's on tamoxifen and what about me?

My 43 year old sister recently had a pathology report come back with atypical cells, mucin and calcium dpts.  She is perimenopausal with hot flashes.   She is going on tamoxifin and neurotin for the hot flashes.  I on the other hand am 47 on birth control pills and also perimenopausal with hot flashes.  Worried about birth control pills and my sisters diagnosis.  What do you think?

Well, I think if you are concerned you should be evaluated by a Breast Specialist (if you have any breast issues) or perhaps a Geneticist if either of you wish to be tested for the Breast Cancer Gene; this can be a very expensive proposition unless it is proven to the Ins. Co. that it's necessary. I'm not one to advise much "just because" .... if there is a proven family history of Breast Cancer then proceed with whatever makes you comfortable. You might also consider consulting with your Sister's Oncology Team regarding you own situation.  Regards ....

thanks, just saw the GYN and he said can't have Gene test b/c insurance won't pay for it.  Have to prove necessity.  Two aunt need to do the test first and then my father... then I may be able to get insurance to pay.  Thanks again for your help.
