Hi,
It's not unusual to be called back for a spot compression mammogram.Sometimes the skin of the breast folds over on itself and appears like a shadow on the film. The additional spot compression test and ultrasound (If needed) will clarify if this is an abnormality or not. Also having dense breast makes if more difficult to interpret Mammograms.
The pain you feel in your breasts and back, could be due to the last mammogram you had which can be quite painful for some women.
Please let us know how things are proceeding and we hope for good results.
Best wishes....
Obviously something was seen on your screening Mammogram that needs further investigation. It could be any number of things as and simple as some tissue folded over on itself that is creating a shadow or dense area. I doubt seriously that the pain in your back and both breasts has anything to do with the recall for additional films. It could very likely be a muscular type pain that would be totally unrelated to the need for the views ordered. Regards ....
