Hang in there. My daughter also had a reaction to Taxotere. Her onc really felt it was the best chemo for her so they give her lots of meds before hand and then they watch her the whole time. The nurse rarely leaves her side. She does O.K. and not many side effects. Just keep that positive attitude and remeber that this too shall pass.

Hi,

The decision to go ahead is indeed courageous. The ability to see clearly in times of stress and pain is rare and precious. Ordinary people may become extraordinary through their actions.

I am glad that I have been of some help. It is good to know that there are people out there whose lives have been touched and who have been encouraged to take the right decision no matter the hardships.

Keep us the spirit. Trust yourself, you doctor and your God.

All the best

You writing to me has helped me to decide that I am going to go along with the chemo in spite of the side effects.  I am sure others are finding it tough too - or perhaps I am not as brave as others.  I have decided to distract myself and went for a walk this morning which helped I have found a relaxation class to do tomorrow and if I fill in something nice each day I will get back my courage.  From now on THE CANCER is my enemy not the chemo.

I was not alone when you answered me  thanks.

Hi,

Glad to know that you are doing good now and that the medication was given and that you are convinced about the treatment.

Follow up with your doctor regularly and get the required investigations done as and when advised. Inform your doctor about any abnormal features that you notice.

Let us know about any other doubts that you have and also about how you are doing.

Regards.

Thanks, yes I got med. in hospital so oncologist knows what happened.  It just knocked me for six.  I am alright now.  I just have to believe that it will cure the cancer and know that I am strong enough to take it.

It is a great help to hear from you much appreciated.

They gave me some pre-meds and tried the Texatore again.  It went in alright but the side effects were very heavy.  Because I cant remember what happened I was a bit worried but I suppose they know what they are doing.  Thanks for answer.  I am alright now.

Hi there, I had an allergic reaction to Taxotere. I'm happy to say that the caring pros took care of it IMMEDIATELY, in a flash. I was never able to take it again, so we used Abraxane in its place. I had no problem with Abraxane. The difference is: Taxotere delivers the taxol meds in an herb base, Abraxane delivers taxol meds in a lipid base. I was given decadron (steroids) before each chemo session as a precaution and all went well. I finisged 3 different regimens March 19th Hooray!

Hi,

It is dangerous to have an allergic response to any drug - the reaction could get severe and even cause an anaphylaxis or shock.

You should discuss all the possible side effects with your oncologist and also about steroid premedication given.

It is important that the chemotherapeutic drugs are administered under supervision with the exact dose regimen prescribed by your oncologist.

Let us know if you have any other doubts.

Regards.
