weird blue brown nipple discharge

I am a 43 yr old female who in the last month have had a weird blueish brown discharge coming from my left breast. It comes out on its own and it is very sticky!  I went to my ob/gyn and he stated that he has never seen anything like this before and took a sample to be tested! It came back as inconclusive and now he is wanting to send me  to a surgeon! I have size AA breasts and find lumps very often. I have had numerous mammograms and biopsies on both breasts and all lumps have been benign! I am getting very tired of going in because every time it is lets try to get fluid with a needle or lets get a film. It always leads to Biopsy or remove the lump. Then after all the scare they say we will see you again in 6 months for a recheck! Only one time has there been a diagnosis and that was Fibroadenoma but it was "curious in nature" as the radiologist put it because it wasn't typical to the norms! I have also had Microcalcifications and they have been watching them closely but so far no changes so I suppose I am fine! But every time I go in for my yearly exams we start all over again!  I'm so tired my tiny breasts being picked on! Is this discharge some thing to worry about or is it another false alarm?

Hi and welcome to our community,

Since your question is on a different topic, please start a new thread of your own, using a title that will reflect  the subject of your question. (You can use the "MedHelp answer question box" in the column next to this forum, to the right and down a bit.  I think there may also be an option for posting a question at the top of this forum.)

That will invite people with an interest in or knowledge about that subject to "talk" with you. (When someone adds a new question to an existing thread, it may get overlooked, because people often assume it's just another response to the original poster.)

Thanks.

What exactly are fibroglandular elements and what are their significance in the mammogram?  They show up and told not to worry, but I do.  Is there reason for worry or not.  Wouldn't a cyst be a fibroglandular element?

The wait for results is always so difficult!

I hope you get the report soon and that it is nothing serious.

If they ever do find something worrisome, after all this "picking on your tiny breasts" you will at least have the "consolation prize" that whatever it is, it could ONLY be at an early statge!  :-)

Write back anytime.  We talk about everything here, and many of our members are very generous about sharing their personal experiences as well as their knowledge.

You are in my thoughts,
bb

Thankyou so much for your Link I am so weirded out by the whole process these days! Today I had a Breast Ultrasound and I was fine until she kept measuring numerous black regions  on the ultrasound! I hate it when you ask what they are measuring and the answer always is "I can not diagnose you will have to wait for the doctors report" I have seen many mammogram pictures and I can tell on a film what I am looking at, but I can not see on ultrasound! you cant see borders and if it is a cyst or duct or regular tissue! I am going to make myself crazy once again until the results are in! I am sure that It is probably nothing bad but I am also sure that it isnt something normal! I had a Hysterectomy 13 years ago and I am having issues with all of this! Thankyou for the help and information! It really does help to talk about this with someone! All of my sisters are over the top when it comes to talking about this stuff!

Here is a link to a previous thread about various types of nipple discharge, (including blue and brown) that should increase your understanding of this problem:
