biopsy results

I had a sugical biopsy on Dec 17th and I just got a call from the doctor about the pathology report,  The doctor said it was  benign, 'fibrous and fatty' tissue.  That's great news!

I'm just wondering how 'fibrous and fatty' tissue can cause a painful lump?  I do have breast implants, so does that have something do to with it?  Intense pain in the breast is what brought my attention to the lump in the first place.

Hi,
Yes 'fibrous and fatty' tissue can in fact cause pain due to the the pressure effect on the surrounding tissue, or due to stretching of the fibrosed area, or n some cases if a secondary infection occurs.
The lump is what you feel apart from the normal breast tissue or the fibrous and fatty tissue. For how long have you had the breast implants? The breast implants could cause the fibrous fatty tissue and even scar tissue formation in some cases.
It is therefore advisable to get regular clinical follow ups and get your implants seen by a physician.
You need to relax now that the biopsy report has come out fine and ask your doctor when you need to follow up with him/her.
Do report any abnormal features that you notice to your doctor.
Good luck.

Hi.
It's great to know that the result of the biopsy turned out to be benign.
The lump in your breast is composed of fibrous and fatty tissue as stated in your biopsy result.  The pressure effect of the lump on the surrounding normal breast tissue can be the cause of pain.
A breast implant can be considered "foreign" to that area.  There are times when fibrosis develop on the area of the implant.
I hope that helped.
Good luck.
