Hi,
Just a suggestion, for future reference: We prefer that people keep their related posts in one thread, so that: 1) all of their information will be available in one place, which helps us to provide better answers; 2) we will be able to see the answers that have already been given, so we do not duplicate our efforts; and 3) readers interested in a particular thread will know when additional developments have been discussed.
Thanks for your cooperation, and best wishes...
Hi,
In the vast majority of cases, a complex cyst is not of significance. It's highly rare to have cancer in a cyst, and in a few cases that it occurs, the cyst walls tend to be thick and irregular, which can be clearly noted on ultrasound. So when an otherwise normal-appearing cyst has debris,(like probably in your case) it's generally not something to get overly concerned about.I believe that the BI-RADS score stated on your Ultrasound report must have been category 2 or 3.These low scores, are not usually alarming to the radiologist and that's why a follow up in 6 months was recommended and not a biopsy procedure at this time.Of course the alternative to waiting for a followup, and for your own peace of mind, you could consider to have a fine needle aspiration biopsy,so that the fluid in the cyst can be sampled. Whether you opt for that procedure, would depend on how concerned you and your doctor are.The danger of waiting, statistically speaking, is extremely low.But you could discuss your situation with your doctor, or ask your doctor for a referral to see a Breast Specialist for a second opinion.
Best wishes...
