breast conditions

Had breast surgery 8 months ago for benign conditions and now breast is hard and gives me jolts of pain. Anyone else ever have this happen?

This discussion is related to Lump seven months after surgery.

The cyst that is mentioned is rather large at present, 2-1/2 inches and it does mention that there is some blood supply. A complex cyst contains both solid and liquid material. I don't quite understand about the amount of edema surrounding the cyst but there will be answers when you receive the Path results. The length of time for results can vary quite a bit ... depending first on the institution and whether the studies are done "in house" or sent to another Lab and then also on what type of tests are being done .. some testing needs time to complete and this varies also from a couple of days to more than a week or two. Wait as patiently as you can ... it's always the worst. Take care and please keep us posted when you get your results.

Thanks for your replies. Had mammo, ultrasound, microbiology and biopsy on May 16. Result of microbiology is no bacteria, no growth = no infection. Result of mammo/ultrasound is palpable mass 6.5 x 5.6 x 4.4 cm complex solid and cystic mass. Reticulated internal echoes and some peripheral vascularity. Posterior acoustic enhancement and large amount of edema in surrounding tissue. Surgery last Sept. was for ductal papilloma and ductal and lobular hyperplasia. All pathology for that surgery was negative for cancer. Now I have to wait until May 31 for path results and June 2 for MRI. I think 15 days is a long time to wait for a biopsy result and 17 days for a MRI. Most importantly I don't know what most of this stuff means and I'm wondering if anyone else does. Thanks for your help.

You don't say what type of surgery you had but I noticed that you had previously opened a discussion about ADH. If I were you I would contact your Surgeon regarding these new symptoms. Not knowing anything more about your surgery it's impossible to offer an opinion as to what you are experiencing or if it is even related to your surgery. Regards ....
