Hi.
I agree that you should not worry.
DCIS is non-invasive, with cancer cells confined to the ductal structures of the breast.
Good luck on your lumpectomy.

Hi,

DCIS or ductal carcinoma in situ is not an aggressive type of cancer usually. You need not worry about it spreading so fast.

Just relax, and get the lumpectomy on monday. Discuss with your doctor the post surgical follow up plan, and when you should be seeing him next. Also, ask him some pain relief medications that you can take if and when required after the surgery.

Good luck with the surgery.
Do let us know about your progress.
Hope this helps.
Regards.

Hi diana - don't worry, DCIS does not spread that fast that it will make any difference to your prognosis.  I had a normal 3 yrly mammo which showed a 2 cm invasive ductal cancer, with DCIS, but because of referral problems, did not have my lumpectomy until 3 months later. That was 5 yrs ago, and am doing fine.
Liz.
