bug bite of some sort

hi there, been worried a bit about something that hasn't happened to me before. about almost a week ago just after i came out of the shower i noticed that my right breast started to hurt. the redness started to grow from the point right next to my nipple. it swelled up in few hours and the next day i had some kind of ideally round shaped pinkness that was about 3 inches in diameter. it was swallen and hot to touch, but it didn't itch. everyone was saying that it's a bug bite however i didn't see the wounds. anyway, in few days it started to go away and now everything is all gone except it left a small lump in the middle of where it was swallen. now i don't know if i shuld go to the doctor with it and when. could it be the breast cancer? thanks for any information.

thanks to all, i have finally gone to doctor and he indeed said it was an infection, which is going away now, didn't leave any excess thanks god, prescribed meds and asked to see him again in few days, my resolution now is to stop listening to my friends who always tell me it's nothing and i should forget it but to go to doctor before it's too late..  :)

You have to realize that it's impossible to diagnose with certainty over the internet without benefit of examination. We can only tell you what it appears to be based on your description ... so in matters like this; we aren't SURE of anything. You need to see your Dr. so this can be looked at and possibly some form of testing done to be sure. The remaining lump could be an abscess even though the other symptoms no longer exist. See your Dr. for a diagnosis, please !!

are you sure that it's an infection? i mean the redness and swelling were just like the times when i had bug bites except this time i didn't seem to have any itching. the symptoms all gone now and only a little lump is left where was the centre of the redness.. can it still be an infection?

Doesn't sound like bc to me either. 3inches! Swelling, redness, hot to touch are signs of infection. It sounds like your immune system has resolved the issue. If it doesn't subside completely I would go to your doctor.You need to see these things! Keep your skin clean.

I doubt that it is breast cancer but I don't think  it's a bug bite either. I would suggest that you have this ck'd out by your Dr. it could be some type of infectious process and may need some treatment.  Regards ...
