11 yr old with several cystic lumps on her breast??? PLEASE HELP!

Can you please help me?  My 11 yr old daughter just had another series of ultra sounds at a breast center for "woman".  She came in with a 100.8 fever, discharge from her nipple, and pain in the breast.
The "Woman's Breast Specialty Center" told me yesterday when I took her back after her round of 500mg of Kelflex every six hours, that she did not know why she had these cysts in my breast.  So, she told me that she would "look it up online" and let me know!  This was not a good enough answer for me!  Afterall, she is only 11 years old!  I NEED to know what is going on asap!

It indeed sounds very frightening to have your 11 year old daughter to be suffering from what you describe. You sure have my empathy. What would I do if I were you?

I don't know, but I think I would try to get a referral to a pediatric specialist first? I think the 'pediatric' is important as I understand your not feeling comfortable in having her treated just like another woman which she is not.

Also the fevers? I don't think that is so normal. And the nurse/doctor? who told you she would look this up on the Internet for you? Enough 'bad news' me thinks to get out of there as fast as I could.

You need not just some doctor but...and I don't know how to find what you need either. but as unhelpful as I usually think they are on the expert forum, this is a question (yours) that I think may elicit a very helpful response for you. I would ask where to go and not so much what your daughter needs as they don't get into specifics related to treatment. but 'where to go', and whom to see is the most important for you to know.

These are just my thoughts. You also may want to mention where about you live because that helps with suggestions for referrals?

Best to you both, KAT

Cysts are usually related to the hormone levels in the body. I would either take your Daughter to a Breast Specialist (M.D.) or to your GYN. Being only 11 yers old doesn't mean much if the hormone levels are the cause .... young women are definitely maturing at a much earlier age these days. She may well be prone to Fibrocystic Breas Condition and this is something that will have to be dealt with for years to come. This condition affects nearly half of all women but not often those so young .... it's not unheard of however.  Regards ....
