density

I recently had my first mammagram at 38 years old. I have two lumps that are hard and do not move. I didn't do self exams like I should have so I really have nothing to compare to. I am concerned about the density report I received. After doing some research I see how density can interfere with readings and can be a sign of cancer. Should I be contacting the doctor for further answers?

I would think your mammogram report would have been sent to your Physician. I would certainly contact him/her and ask about some further investigation. Having dense breast tissue can be more difficult to evaluate but dense breasts are entirely different than a specific density seen on mammogram. If you have palpable lumps then this needs further investigation to find the cause. You should definitely call your Dr. and get a detailed explanation of the mammo report.   Regards....
