My daughter is 15years old and had a benign phyllode tumors removed from her right breast. There were two ,one was 4.7 x3.2x 2.7 cm. and the other was 2 x 1.8 x 1.2 cm.In the pathology report it said the lesions abuts the surgical margin. What does that mean and what is the chance of a her having more?
I have a friend who had a Phyllodes tumor which was benign . She had a mastectomy (her decision instead of just removing the tumor as it was large)...no problems for her since...That was about 15 years ago and she is fine. She is now about 43. Best of luck to you and I wish you the same great results that she has had.
Hi - I have just Googled phyllodes tumours, which I have heard of, but never met anyone with this rare breast problem. There are over 100,000 sites to look at, but I only did an overview. It seems that there is a reasonably high chance it can occur, and it can be malignant, as you surmise. The good news at present is that your tumour is benign - hold onto that, but make sure you get it regularly checked.
You may wish to put a post on the Ask The Nurse section of this site - she is brilliant and so knowledgeable.
Take care,
Liz.
