lumps my doctors don't take seriously

by metalgirl70, Jul 22, 2008 05:18PM
I have had three breast lump issues in the last 10 months.  One of them was biospied and it turned out to be scar tissue from an breast implant.  The other is a 'thickening' that doesn't show up on ultra sound or mammogram.  Now I have a painful, bee-bee sized firm lump in another area of the breast.

I am afraid to go to the doctor because the last two times they have mocked me and told me I was just too paranoid and to stop looking up breast info on the Internet.  Nothing has been done about the thickening area because my doctor  doesn't take it seriously, although no biopy was done.

Now I have this new lump and I don't know what to do.  I'm 37 years old and most of the doctors that I have met feel I'm too young for breast cancer so they infer that I'm a paranoid nutcase.  Call me silly, but I go get paranoid when I have breast irregularities that doesn't show up on imaging, yet can be felt and my doctor just rolls his eyes at me.

If it were up to my doctors, they'd probably let me die before they take me seriously!

Help!

If you aren't happy with the Dr. you have then go to someone else. The actions don't sound typical of a Physician though .... being afraid to go back to a Dr. is a very foolish thing and you should not feel that way. You must remember that these Dr.s have spent many years in school, being educated to recognize which things are serious and which are not though. I would advise you to either give it another try and have this new lump ck.d out or find yourself a new Physician; maybe a female ???? Regards ....
