After Breast Cancer, "thickening" on other Side.

12 years ago I was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma. I had felt the lump for 2-1/2 years and every doctor said I just had fibeocystic breasts until the lump was so big someone decided to take it out. This never showed on a mammogram.
Now, in the other breast, I have a feeling of thickening tissue, mammogram was normal, sonogram, normal. The MRI showed "thickening" and they recommended a mammogram in 6 months. Should I be more pro-actve?

YES, you should be more pro active.  In my "BC experienced opinion" one sure fire way to diagnose is to ask for a needle biopsy.  Never be afraid to ask for treatment, you are informed, use what you know, it's your body, your life.  A tissue specimen is what you need.  The other diagnostic imaging you have had done is good, but the actual tissue needs to be analyzed.   Don’t let doctors make decisions for you, make your own.  God bless you and good luck.

I'm an ILC survivor too. If it was me I'd say yes to being more pro-active. Thickening was the only symptom I had and mine was 10cm. I think I'd ask for clarification on the MRI re: the thickening and most likely ask for a biopsy.

Best wishes for NED.
