new pain after surgery

new pain after surgery

Thursday, 2/28/08 I had a fibroadenoma removed from the right side of my breast.  I was amazed at how I felt no pain and didn't need to take the tylenol with codeine that was prescribed.  This past thursday I was getting stabbing pains in that breast.  Friday the stabbing pain was only a couple of times but the breast felt tender, I moved my arm and it gently swiped my breast and I saw stars.  Today, Saturday, the pain is so bad I wanted to cry when I was taking a shower and trying to get dressed.  The incision looks great with no noticeable changes.  I took the pain medicine and it still hurts just as much.  The office is closed till Monday.  What could this pain be from?

Hi,

Since its been a couple of days since the surgery, it could be due to some post operative infection. This could be in the breast tissue or at lower level. The best course forward is to inform your doctor and discuss the way forward. Meanwhile, you can try some OTC painkillers and warm compresses.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any more help and keep us posted on your health.

Best regards
