post op ductectomy

szy
I had a duct removed due to bloody nipple discharge on Dec 6th. This past week the pain has increased and my nipple seem very red and painful. Today the skin around my areola is pink. I feel likes something is wrong. I called my surgeon all day (never received a return call) and finally got a hold of a real person by 3:00. the secretary spoke with the surgeon and she said she would see me Tuesday...In 5 days! I burst out in tears. Now it's the weekend and I'mscared it's an infection. I'm not sure what to do. Any advice?

I guess this is why I don't join these on-line communities; I don't know how to get messages.
Am scheduled for a bilateral mastectomy Dec. 3 for LCIS. Not usual treatment for this condition but I have also had a couple surgeries in the past year due to problems with cysts/chronic mastitis. Now have a diagnosis of Granulomatous mastitis, very rare, very painful, and the main reason I opted for the mastectomy.
Doctors I am working with have NO idea how to proceed with this latest diagnosis, nor do they seem to have any idea of the pain I experience every day.
Am wondering if any one has any experience with Granulomatous mastitis?

Hi,

You could take some OTC pain relief medications for the pain and try some warm compresses.

Wear lose comfortable clothes and keep the area clean.

This should help decrease your symptoms. In the meantime. try to schedule an earlier appointment.

If the pain gets unbearable, go the ER.

Let us know if you have any doubts.

Regards.
