Spindle cell carcinoma when found on the breast has a different behavior compared to the usual histology of invasive ductal carcinoma. This can be associated or mistaken with mesenchymal tumors such as phylloides tumors or sarcomas of the breast. I suggest that these tumors when found on the breast be examined for Estrogen and Progesterone receptors as well as this would greatly influence prognosis and treatment options. If the tumor can be removed entirely, and appropriate adjuvant treatment (like hormonal therapy or chemotherapy) can be instituted, then there could be a good chance of cure.
Regards.
