thyroid cysts causes

I want to know if radiation for breast cancer can cause thyroid cysts, and if so what would be the
timing from the termination of the  radiation treatments  can this occur.?
How can this be determined as the cause?

Thyroid cysts can have several causes .... just as do thyroid nodules. Lack of iodine in your diet, an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation, underactivity (Hypothyroidism) but NOT radiation. Breast radiation can ?? cause thyroid cancer if the thyroid is in the radiated field but this would present years later and the area is usually protected.   Regards ....
