The report states "suspicious" not that it is definitely cancer. Have any other images been ordered; Ultrasound? Any mentions of a biopsy?
Hi,
I understand your concern.BIRADS is a system of standardizing mammogram reports and the higher the number, the higher chances that the findings are indeed malignant. However, these should be ascertained by a biopsy procedure as this is only the most dependable way to determine the exact nature of the lesion.
BIRADS category 4,means suspicious, but the category 5 means "Highly suspicious"
Only when your biopsy will be done, you will know for certain if the lump is cancerous or not. Please don't panic, even when lumps are highly suspicious they could be found to be benign and I sure hope that it will be so. .
Hang in there...
Sending you my best wishes.
Regards and God bless.
