Does the word talk about animals in Heaven

Some of you may know I work for a veterinary hospital and there are times when clients ask if I think that their pets will be in heaven w/ them? My answer is always " The bible teaches that heaven is the most awesome place ever and we have a loving God who is in total control, so I hope their is.
What do you think?

I do believe animals are in heaven and have found many scriptures to back that! If you look, I made a journal about this awhile back. I'll see if I can pull it back up and at least find those scriptures. I know one of them is Jesus riding a white horse when he comes back.

Do our pets go to heaven? from my journal April 24, 2009

The Bible is very clear that there will be animals in heaven:

Isa 65:25 5 The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain," says the LORD. NIV

I have no doubt that our loving heavenly Father can resurrect our pets and make them part of our happiness in heaven.  However, the Bible does not give any references to this, as the Bible was written for the salvation of mankind.  (After all, something written for animals wouldn't do a lot of good when the animals can't read!!)

In Revelation 5:8-13 all creatures recognize Jesus as the Savior of the world and praise God right along with redeemed men.

In Psalm Psalm 145:-9-10,13,15-21  God loves all His creation and has made plans for all His children and the lesser creatures to enjoy His eternal Kingdom.

Romans 8:19 says that the lesser creatures await Christ's return to redeem the sons of God so they, too, will be released from physical death to eternal life.

Romans 8:21-22 says "Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now"

Rev. 19:11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True.
Is. 11: 6-8 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, and the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest. {We believe this refers to the millennium, but could also refer to the new heavens and new earth.}

Zech. 14:20 On that day "Holy to the Lord" will be inscribed on the bells of the horses... Note: The passage from the Revelation shows that presently there are horses in heaven. The passages in Isaiah and Zechariah show that there will be animals in the millennium kingdom on earth. The present violence in the animal world is a result of the curse in the garden of Eden pronounced by God due to man's sin.

Rom. 8:19 -22 The creation {this includes animals} waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time...

The Lord put all things in the oceans, in the air, and on earth under man's subjection in Genesis 1:26. What makes man different from the animals is not that he has a soul, but that he is made in the image of God {Gen. 1:26-27}. The words "let us make" uses the same Hebrew word for "make" found in Ex. 20:4 in which God commands us to "not make" any graven image. It is because we are made in the image of God that murder is forbidden {Gen. 9:6} Also, God breathed His Spirit into Adam Gen. 2:7.

We know that animals do have souls. We know that the soul lives on after the body has died. We know that there are presently animals in heaven. We know that there will be animals upon the earth in the millennium kingdom. We also know that God himself watches over even the birds of the air {Matt. 6:26} and takes care of them. To say that animals don't go to heaven when they die has no foundation in scripture!

Do Animals Have Souls? Most of us have heard all our life that animals do not have souls. Yet the first chapter of Genesis indisputably contradicts that position. The Hebrew word for soul is nephish and refers to the part of our being which lives on after physical death. The first chapter of Genesis not only proves that animals have a soul, but it also proves that plant life does not! Here are the verses: Genesis 1:20 And God said, Let the waters swarm with swarmers {fish} having a living soul and let the birds fly over the earth, on the face of the expanse of the heavens. Genesis 1:21 And God created the great sea animals and the creeping things all having a living soul...

Genesis 1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth souls of life according to its kind, the cattle, the beasts of the field, and creeping things according to its kind. Genesis 1:30 To every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the heavens and to every creeping thing on the earth, in which is a living soul, every green plant is given for food. In all four of the above verses the Hebrew word nephish is used which is the exact same word used of man in Genesis 2:7. Most modern translations give no hint that this is in fact the case, but most older King James bibles do give a footnote: Hebrew, lit: soul for each of the above verses. It is this same "soul" which David refers to in Ps. 16:10 when he says: "You will not abandon my soul to sheol." {Sheol is the place for the souls of those who have physically died.}

The Old Testament makes comparisons between the eventual destiny of humans and animals. Ecclesiastes 3:19 declares, "Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; man has no advantage over the animal."

According to a song of praise in Psalms 36:6: "Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep, O Lord, you preserve both man and beast."

Some New Testament verses speak of all creatures experiencing salvation or life in heaven. Luke 3:6 states in the King James Version that "all flesh will see the salvation of God." More modern Bible versions change the word "flesh" to "mankind", appearing to change the meaning of the verse to not include animals.

However, Revelation 5:13 says, "Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: 'To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!' "

GENESIS 9: 14-17

When I gather the clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, I shall recall the covenant between myself and you and every living creature, in a word all living things, and never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all living things. When the bow is in the clouds I shall see it and call to mind the eternal covenant between God and every living creature on earth, that is, all living things. `That' God told Noah, `is the sign of the covenant I have established between myself and all living things on earth.'

ISAIAH 11:6-9

And the wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed, their young ones shall lie down together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice's den. They shall not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

JOB 12:7-10

You have only to ask the cattle, for them to instruct you, and the birds of the sky, for them to inform you. The creeping things of earth will give you lessons, and the fish of the sea provide you an explanation: there is not one such creature but will know that the hand of God has arranged things like this! In his hand is the soul of every living thing and the breath of every human being!

PSALM 50:9-11

I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine.

PSALMS 50:10-11

For all forest creatures are mine already, the animals on the mountains in their thousands. I know every bird in the air, whatever moves in the fields is mine.

PSALM 136:25

...And who gives food to every creature. His love endures forever.

PROVERBS 12:10

A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal

ECCLESIASTES 3:19

Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath, man has no advantage over the animal.

LUKE 12:6

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God.

I think I've found just about all the scriptures I can find in the Bible to support that animals do have souls. I know there's a lot of dispute out there about this and people will argue against this, including many churches and pastors. I would say do a deep study on this and see what you can find. I have several references and different Bible translations. And I pray. I believe God shows us what we're looking for if we really seek his face.

One more!

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth... God saw all that he had made, and it was very good." (Genesis 1:1, 31)

"The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.... The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made." (Psalm 145:9, 13; cf. Psalm 145:17)

"In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind." (Job 12:10)

"He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." (Colossians 1:17)

God's covenant with animals

"I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with you-the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you-every living creature on earth." (Genesis 9:9-10)

"In that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I will abolish from the land, so that all may lie down in safety." (Hosea 2:18)

God's concern for animals

"And of every living thing, of all flesh, you shall bring two of every kind into the ark, to keep them alive with you." (Genesis 6:19)

"Six days you shall do your work, but on the seventh day you shall rest, so that your ox and your donkey may have relief." (Exodus 23:12; cf. Deuteronomy 5:14)

"You shall not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain." (Deuteronomy 25:4)

"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God's sight." (Luke 12:6; cf. Matthew 10:29)

Did you notice he made the sabbath not only for humans to rest but also animals? Does this not show concern for his animals?
And why would he save animals along with Noah if he didn't care about the animals?

God's promise to animals

"The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea." (Isaiah 11:6-9)

Here's a couple of books you can recommend to grieving pet owners who just lost their pet. It may give them some comfort too.

"There Is Eternal Life For Animals" by Niki Behrikis Shanahan. I looked it up and it had some great reviews. I also heard good things about "Cold Noses At The Pearly Gates" by Gary Kurtz. They're both Christian authors.

I do know that we are told we will be happy in heaven and there will be no tears.  If having animals is what is required to make me happy then there will be some there.  If they will not be there then I know God will relieve me of any sorrow I may have of not having any animals.

Hi, this is my first time in this forum...When my beutiful dog died Toby, he died at 3 pm sharp and I actually felt this most uncomfortable feeling that I had to go to him and I did. He passed, but I will never forget that warning in my heart and soul that he needed me and I just go up from work and literally walked right out to the vet.

I believe that our beutful pets are a gift from God and they teach us what unconditional love is and in Genesis, it states that God created all his creatures first and gave them a living soul, so I am sure that one day, my Toby is going to come running to me at the gates from heaven and be that little guiding light and show me the way.

The Holy Spirit is represented by a white Dove, so I believe, have faith and trust in God that one day, we will be reunited with our furbabies...Love the new forum and God bless...Judy
