Did it take long for them to get used to the fountain and does it need alot of maintenance?
That's exactly how the water glass started at our house too! Bob saw mine and though that looked nicer than his water bowl, Spirit saw what he was doing and followed suit. Butters is the only non-conformist-he'll only drink out of a specific bowl and only if placed on the nightstand. I put his in a different bowl once and he was actually terrified! it was the oddest thing. So the nightstand has a glass and a bowl.
Oh...yes...the water fountain. I got it at the Pet Supermarket if I remember correctly..but you can find it online too.
One of the pictures I posted shows both the fountain and the automatic feeder they have. I had to get them a feeder because I go visit my parents every weekend. So I leave them with that thing that gives them food three times daily and the water fountain which keeps the water fresh at all times. Talking about spoiled cats LOL
Hi Spirit, sounds like you've got everything under control. You're a great kitty mama!
Even though your kitties are short haired, a little extra brushing each day will not only make them feel better, but cut down on the amount of fur they ingest with all the shedding Summer brings.
Jade gets a water glass too. When she first came to us, she always wanted to drink MY water so I gave her a glass of her own :) That's a cool fountain PK has, huh!
LOL my aunt tells me that this is the cats' place and we (me and my husband) are guests and lucky to be allowed in the house LOL
They are absolutely indoor babies! They are all short hairs and you're right-they landed at the right home! If it came down to it, I'd eat ramen noodles and make sure they had their elegant medleys and appetizers! And I'll make sure they get extra brushing-thanks for the idea! They seem fine-I just wanted to make sure they stay that way. Where did you get the water fountain? Mine actually have their own glasses of water. (I know I know-but they've never knocked it over!) We kid it's their house, we just pay for it.
One more thing you could do is brush them every day. If they are hairy or have long hair they will appreciate that. You will be relieving them of excess hair and they'll feel better.
Are they inside cats? If they are then you are all set. Have you noticed them sweating a lot? You can touch the bottom of the paw which I for the life of me can't remember what that is called LOL. You know, the skin at the bottom of the paw? And if they are sweating a lot AND licking excessively then it means they are hot and so you could try getting a washcloth and rub it all over their bodies so the cool water can keep them comfy. But I honestly would do that in the extreme case that the cat is really, really, really uncomfortable.
It is hot where I live as well. So I try to keep my cats inside as much as possible, keep water running at all times (They have a water fountain) and keep an eye on them.
Wow spirit….that is so thoughtful. I bet they are spoiled rotten!!!
