Abby is not eating :(

We recently moved into our new home. We have been living there for about 5 days now. One of my cats, Dillan, is being his normal self. Abby, on the other hand, is very angry all the time, growls when Dillan gets near him, and is not eating. I don't think he likes our new place. He has lost weight.  I know moving is very stressful for kitties, but we are talking about a cat who is used to traveling and has never shown symptoms of stress when moving to new places. This is a first.

Abby doesn't look too good. Is there anything I can do to make him eat? My kitty will only follow me, listen to me, sleep next to me, and play with me. But as far as eating.............nothing. Not one bite. He is very.......grouchy. He seems upset and does not want Dillan near him. It is very difficult to watch. I don't know how long I have to wait for him to come around...as he has already lost weight...too much for my liking.  He has always liked his diet. Right now I am giving him duck (his favorite meal). But I have already run out of ideas with the food. I can't get any more creative than I already am with the food. I'm worried.

P.S - I can't give him commercial foods. I simply can't. I know he'd eat it like there is not tomorrow....but I just can't feed him anything commercial or his IBD will start all over again.

Any ideas?

What great news!  Poor baby was so hungry!  I'm sure it's just the move and all the change that's affected Abby's appetite.  Hopefully, now that he's eaten, he will continue.  Wonder why he's hating Dillon so much?  Maybe because Dillon is adjusting better and he's jealous? LOL...

Ohhhhh I am so glad to read this!!!
just had to force his interest a bit....never heard of tilapia.
Yes that what I will do too with Sami...just keep reducing a little, but for now its just so darn nice to see him EATING...
I think part of Abby's temper may well have been because he was so darn hungry too...I know I sure get that way lol....full belly all things appear brighter.
Keep a going there Abby, you gave us a scare.

I can't believe the difference in him, I adopted him 4.5 yrs ago and he's always been a small eater, never concerned abt food...never asked anyway...I tell you one of those 5.8oz cans would last him 4 days(really) and he's a big muscular cat 13lbs...he'd also eat a few nibbles of dry with it, all of a tablespoon.
NOW PK....he's eating the FULL 5.8 oz can in a day and still asking for more but I refuse to give him more!!
so thats 4x what he has always eaten....I'm thinking he always just ate enough to stay alive and didn't really ever enjoy food, now he lives to eat the little porker lol

Ok he finally ate. We mixed the duck with fresh tilapia..put all his vitamins, enzymes and oils and the kitty ate like there was no tomorrow. Opus, I remembered you talking about adding fish to the diet, temporarily, to get them to eat. That's what I did, but I know he loves tilapia, so that's what I gave him. Now I will minimize his fish portions until he finally starts to eat the duck alone. I hope it will all get better from now. He still hates Dillan right now. But at least he is eating....I hope his temper goes away with a full belly :)
Thank you both!

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that, I was so hoping Abby would eat the egg.
PK...do you think the stress brought on the IBS issue again?
Or do you think there are other health issues going on with him??
We are all routing for him, please keep us informed.
best to you both

He still sleeps a lot and has not eaten. He was going to eat the egg, but when he heard Dillan (We put Dillan in a separate room, since his presence seems to bother Abby so much) ...as I was saying, when he heard Dillan he stepped away. I will try something else today, and hope he'll eat it.

How's Abby today, PK?  Did the egg help get him eating at all?
