Abbys heartbeat

We had Abby,6 mo. Feral kitty we rescued, spayed 2 days ago. She also had a rabies shot on same day. My question is,her heart seems to be beating very hard, she don't seem to be in pain and her scar looks good, just very worried about this heartbeat. Also she's not taking water or food normally. This all may be normal but we are very worried.

Sorry for not posting earlier, I was up till after midnight with her. Well, I will say this morning our baby seems to be coming back, her breathing is still a little fast but has slowed down considerably and she took water. She even wanted to play a little so it appears the emer vet was right on track with the pain meds! I don't think she is completely out of the woods, but she is improving. I have every intention of contacting the first vet today and maybe my lawyer also! I will keep you guys posted on new developments. Thank you so much for your compassion and concern.

Hi App.,

Well it is 6 am here in Florida and this was the first thing I checked to see if little Abby is ok.

So very happy you took her and found what the problem might be, I am praying that the meds will hlp her .

Furious with that first vet .....and yes you should go right back to him and have him reimburse you for any emergency expense.

Next see if there is a Teaching University (Veterinary) in you area and take her there for the xrays--they may not charge you. Also there is a credit card called CareCredit that is just for these types of things, Hopefully the emergency hospital takes this so if you cannot get it done at no cost at a Vet School then you can use it at a vet that does take CareCredit. It allows you to pay off the amount  monthly with no interest.

You are a wonderful pet parent for realizing your little girl was sick. Some people would not have even taken notice. YAY to you App.

Needless to say we want you to sytay in touch here and let us know what is happening. We are all here to support you and little Abby.

Sincerely,
CML

p.s. Give that little angel a big smooch from us--she is one of Medhelps SPECIAL babies.

thk you for updating us. did the original Vet not prescribe her meds for the after pain? he sure should have and its usually done. if they were NOT prescribed and extra costs were incurred due to this than I sure would let them know and be very upset abt it too
Did you go back to the same Clinic? a follow up visit after surgery especially if there are complications are usually included in the initial costs, therefore no extra costs for the visit or the meds should be incurred. but there would be charges for extras such as xrays or tests if needed
I just hope the pain meds take care of the problem and she is much better in the morning...poor baby, she's been through alot of a little tot...♥ let us know how she is in the morning plz

Thank you both so much. The vet told us that she may be breathing so hard because of a hernia on her diaphragm or from pain. We do not have the money tonight for the x-Ray that is needed to see if it's a hernia,so the very sweet vet had us to buy pain meds to see if it's from the pain. We gave her the first dose about 20 mins ago,it seems to be slowing her breathing down somewhat so this may be a good sign. I am very upset with the other vet and I believe they should be at least responsible if not fully for the new charges!

Hello App,
You have every right to be concerned--why a vet would give a rabies shot to a kitten going under surgery is BEYOND belief.

Please get her to an emergency vet NOW.

A rabies shot on a Kitten is tough enough, but when their system is already compromised by surgery---who knows what will happen.

Now!!! to the emergency animal hospital--please!!!!!

Praying for your baby girl, Please get back to us and let us know the outcome--very worried with you
