but i read somewere and have had people tell me that that is one way for cats to sweat it out
ok, i think shes getting worse. its like her eyes are draining....
You can get it at any drug store or grocery store in the nutritional supplements aisle.
I have no idea where to get that stuff tho
Opus is right in that antibiotics won't cure a virus, a runny nose, or help breathing (unless the breathing problem is caused by a bacterial infection), but they do prevent secondary bacterial infections. Immature cats do not yet have fully developed immune systems, and they become further depressed with a viral infection. This makes them susceptible to secondary bacterial infection. Short term use of anti-biotics are helpful in this regard, but I agree that L-lysine and probiotics are far better for longer term use to support immune system functions.
its only sappose to help her with her breathing, since she has a runny noise
sorry that L-lysine is a supplement Not a herb....
I don't know why Vets prescribe antibiotics for a flu.....doesn't help!!
get kitty some L-lysine a herb from a health food store and give her 500mg in her food or by syringe for a week, that will help out.
good luck, keep us updated ok..♥
The vet just said it was a minor kittie flu, she gave me some antibiotics (omocsasillin((however its spelled)) and said she should be fine. Shes kinda gettin better but kinda gettin worse, doesnt help much that it was raining when we took her intoday and cold as well, im sure that doesnt help anything at all lol.
Oh! If you recently adopted her from the ASPCA then it could be kennel flu!! It's contagious to other cats I'd say. When I adopted my younger cat from the county shelter he started sneezing after 24 hours of being in the house. He then got my other cat sick as well. It's a virus so antibiotics won't do anything. It will go away on his own. What WILL help is a very, very good diet to help boost her immune system so she can fight that su cker. Good Luck at the vet's.
also find out what they used for anesthesia (gas or injection) and for pain control. ok.
good luck to kitty, I too believe this is temporary but never hurts to be sure....♥
she has used the litter box but oddly when she was just laying on the couch she just let it go. I booked a vet aptmnt today just in case since i got her at the hspca, just because i know they can be sick after they leave there. the litter i use is the non clumping crystal looking stuff, so i dont notice any dust or particals from anything.
I know some people don’t know this, and when I was told my jaw dropped because it is very strange, at least to me anyways. Anesthesia can cause sneezing. Yes. It can cause an animal to shake and it can cause others to sneeze.
I also agree with Nancy in that she may be trying to clear her nasal passage. But, please do keep an eye on her. The sneezing SHOULD subside in a couple of days. If it continues like this or if it gets worse I would contact the vet’s office.
Wetting all over her is normal. Not wanting to eat much is also normal after surgery.
I would give her time, cuddles, and love. Be patient and watch her closely.
If sneezing is her only symptom, she may just be trying to clear some irritant from her nasal passage. If you are using a litter that produces a lot of dust, that could explain both the sneezing and not using the litter box. When she sneezes a lot is it shortly after a trip to the litter box? If she does have some irritant up her nose, that could be partially blocking her sense of smell which could also explain not wanting to eat at times.
