We checked online and supposedly Petco and Petsmart carry the large bags but not close to where we live. My husband checked both and I had already checked the grocery stores, and Target and Walmart....they only have the smaller bags.
Just read the other thread about Kessie and I hope she starts feeling better soon. I will be saying a special prayer for her tonight.
That cleared everything RIGHT up with the nick names!. Very cute, Pip; I'll try to remember all that!!!
Kessie....Makes perfect sense she may of been reacting to the new food. Any additional problems with bm's could now be attributed to the antib's, something you probably already know.
Linda...you might try again with Purina Complete, only add in the new food very slowly. One Beyond looks like it's sold in Walmart? Or maybe you could order a large quantity online?
Pip, I'm glad you posted about the food also. I had just switched my cats from the One Beyond, that I know they love but is so expensive, to the Purina Complete Cat Chow. Well 2 of them started throwing up a little several days after I switched and I knew it was probably the Cat Chow. The BIG puppies are eating us out of house and home and their food is $34 a bag so I thought I could save on the cat food. I wish I could find the One Beyond in the large bags but no luck yet. They are eating a variety right now but I hope to get them back on the food they love and do well on. So glad it's nothing serious with Kessie.
Glad you tell us in your post about the food,Pip as thats how i am learning, what to give Tweety who is off wet food cans and only eating dry food ..I think the heat and strange weather is making them all act strangly although you may not have heat in your neck of the woods yet .
Kessie had a little bit of (as my wife's Yiayia Romanos would say, strazjka) Friday night, but firmed up yesterday.
Her appetite remains good and she doesn't seem to mind a little bit of veterinary Kao-Pectate (which IS the old, non-toxic formula) mixed in with her wet food.
...and yes, as you surmised, Doc did check her for parasites (Anita did bring in a stool sample during the initial visit).
We really do think it is a digestive problem rather than any more grave illness. Just in case, Doc put her on 2 courses of antibiotics, which we accompanied with bio-active treats and yogurt within a day or so of the first dosing.
Kessie doesn't hide, she doesn't react with any pain behavior when I pet her and lightly rub her belly, she grooms, she plays, though (understandably) she is sleeping a little more.
From my reading online, I think she may have had an allergic reaction when we (trying to use a bag of food given to Anita by a friend whose kitty passed on) switched kibble from Friskie's Indoor to regular Purina Cat Chow. It seems to stem from this.
Hi Pip....love the picture and love your listing of all their nicknames. That's pretty cool, I have maybe one nickname for each of mine. I've been thinking about Kessie and wondering if her loose stools could have been caused by a parasite of some kind in her digestive track, but I'm sure your vet checked for that possibility along with the other tests he did. I love her extensive menu... looks like she's getting everything she could possibly need...or want. I hope she is feeling better and better every day. Hugs to you all ((>^.^<))
Anita reminded me a couple of minutes ago, Kessie is also called Kester-pest from time to time. =)
Bear is one of the calling names for Chesapeake Bandylegs the Hunter, also called Boo-bear, Bearby, Peake-a-poo or Chessie.
Hildiekatt Halfshadow the Harrier (yes. we're a little excessive on the registered names ,-), Hildie or Monkey-baby. When her head is turned so we see the left side of her face in profile (especially backlit a little), she looks so much like a spider monkey. Otherwise, she is the most formal of the girls and seems to like just the 2 calling names, preferably Hildie.
Silver Kestrel the Ransacker: Kessie, Kissie, Kiss-kiss, Bigby, Biggles, Sweetamus and Ooncas. She's been with us the longest and at one time was the biggest. She is still tallest at the shoulder, but even before she got ill, was (by weight) the smallest of the four.
and then, Miss Teia Honey, usually called Teia or Missy T.
oh I love nicknames .. I even use them for people ...lol you know Pip you could write some books in a journal format about your kitties ..they are so interesting for us cat lovers to read ...
Aww, good times, Pip. The more physical contact with you guys the better. Teia finally has a mom and dad to love and treat her like the queen she is. Who is Bear? You got a lot of nicknames :)
Thanks for sharing this sweet pic. Hugs to you both~~
