This was just too funny not to share.
The morning routine in our house is something like this: I get up, fix coffee, check my email, this forum, etc. while I have my cup of coffee and then feed the cats. The cats of course of thoroughly familiar and aware of this routine so all 4 of them are here in my office waiting semi-patiently to be fed. And all 4 of them are talking to me and each other. Given there various personalities, this morning's conversation goes something like this:
Zylo (the elder statesman): Row, row.roooooooow! Translation: alright already, finish your coffee, feed me, and then let me out so I can do my morning patrol of the yard.
Squeaky (the baby boy): purr, purr, snort, squeak. Aw come on, somebody pet me, love me, hug me, and then FEED ME!
Zany (the large and sometimes prissy Bengal) says to Squeaky who is rubbing up against her: Row, row, grrrrrrrrrrrr! Translation: will you stop touching me and give me my space!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chattty, (our recently acquired snowshoe mix): meow, purr, meow, meow, trill, meow, purr, meow. Translation: I have no idea what I am saying or who I am talking too, I just like to hear the sound of my own voice.
Me: ok, ok, you win! I'll feed you, pet you, let you out. But then I get 10 minutes of peace and quiet and a second cup of coffee.
Mess starts here with Joe Meow ( Lucky) begin for food and/or atention,2 others are quiet.
And she had been doing that a lot early this last days. She also learned scratching my door when I try to ignore her... Oh my!
'Bout talking, they normaly dont talk but something funny happened at Christmas night.
About midnight I spent some time playing with them and later on decided for going bed.
I had just done it when I heard for the first time someone "talking" - it was not begging for something, claimming or excited with some bug,it was really talking!
It took just some seconds and I wonder if she saw Santa, somehow :-)
