Cats won't poop in litterbox

I have 2 cats one I have had for 10 years the other for 4, got each of them as a kitten. When we brought the 2nd cat home, our older cat decided to poop directly beside the littler box. We got a 2nd box, which didn't help. We weren't too bothered since he was going on tile and not carpet. But nothing seems to change his behavior.
Now our 2nd cat is pooping in the box and on every bed  throughout the house.
I am thinking it's a jealousy issue, as each cat has laid to claim to myself and my husband. We took this cat to the vet last week because we thought he was sick, but nothing showed up.
The only other reason could be he's angry about a hair cut he got about 2 weeks ago.

Any ideas on how we can fix this? We have resorted to closing all the room doors to keep him out, and trying to pay as more attention to him.

This sounds like a case of you don't mind so it didn't matter.  You said this started when you got the second cat 4 years ago.  If this has been going on for 4 years, it will be a challenge to litterbox train your cats after so many years of pooping outside the box has been acceptable.  And any type of training is usually more successful when you reward desirable behavior rather
than undesirable behavior.  Paying more attention to your cat when he exhibits undesirable behavior is saying to him you like what he is doing.  Instead, pay attention to him only and immediately upon desirable behavior (i.e. pooping in the box) and not when he poops on the bed.

I recently adopted a kitten and am having the same problem with My 6 month old cat who is well aware on how to use her Kitty litter and as I have three cats I have three kitty litter trays, she has decided to poop in the bath and when I shut the bathroom door she poops in the kitchen sink.
She is aware what she is doing as we always know when our own cats are acting out. I would definately say she is not very happy with the newest addition and she is acting out because of it.
She seems to do it more however when she knows that I have noticed it, I am trying to not act as though I notice now
