When I came home from work, I looked at her and it looked like it was bleeding a little. I may call the vet tomorrow. If she got an infection, I would be really sad. It doesnt seem to be better. I know she isnt licking it because its almost on the back of her neck. I didnt know that ringworm was airborne. Thats interesting. Thanks for the info. Ive only dealt with it one time in 25 years of being a cat mom. And that was with one of my first kitties. Thanks again.
Ringworm and other fungi are airborne and in both indoor and outdoor environments all the time. Normally this isn't a problem, but if a cat (or person) has a sensitivity, infection, or weakened immune system for any reason they can become susceptible.
She finally let me look at it. It doesnt look like ringworm to me. Besides I dont know where she would have gotten it. But I think that someone or something pulled a chunk of hair off of her. Poor baby. She let me put some Neosporin on it. Its not bleeding or anything. Im glad you told me to get a good look at it. She normally doesnt mind me looking at her. In fact shes the only cat Ive ever know that likes her paws to be handled. She purrs and stretches her toes. She has personality. For sure.
Is her behavior typical? That is, does she always resist having any part of her body examined or just in this case? If it is the latter, I would suspect she is having some irritation or pain in that location. I would check more closely. If you see a scratch it may be from a tussle with another cat and you just want to keep it clean and watch of any signs of redness or swelling that could indicate infection. If you see any flakes or spores on her skin in that spot, I would suspect ringworm or some other fungal infection which can be treated with any OTC anti-fungal ointment.
Sorry for the misspellings I'm trying to do this on an iPod I'm not too good on this tiny keyboard and screen
