Luckly she came to me very young, so the only thing she had/has was a tiny point of one front fang lacking.
See how white they are and NO OTHER broken tooth still today makes me wonder, considering she bites wood sticks, hard plastic things and such...
I would need much more than a professional cleaning to make mines that white ( no smoker,no Coke or tea...)
You're right, Feline breath is not always pleasant. It's when it smells rancid is the time to worry. Seeing as Loreena was a stray when she found you, I will imagine her teeth might not be in the best shape. It's very expensive to have a cats teeth cleaned, very expensive.
Jade is approximately 12y.o. She came to us with rotten breath and a broken front fang we just had pulled 2yrs ago as it was infected. Jade has black gums in some areas too, but even though that is, the red gingivitis line along the bottom of the gum where it meets the teeth should be easy to see IF she has gum disease at all. Haha...I remember when you were brushing Lola's and the kids teeth. You are an awesome pet parent, Apple.
I will do it.Loreena is a little young for dental big problems as well but...
How old is Jade?Does she eat dry food? ( I know you Americans prefer the wet ones but dry ones cause less tartar at least)
I dont think she will mind very much since I'm always opening her mouth.Problem can be her partially black gums
When she was the only one ('good ol'times- brief ones...) I even started brushing her teeth, I did the same for the kids but since I never could put the toothpaste in my 'priorities list' I finally for giving up.
Her breath is not 'like roses' but its not that bad.Feline breath is never pleasant, I guess...
"a lot of patience" indeed. Isn't that the truth! I'm happy to hear Loreena seems to be feeling better today. I hope it continues.
If Lolo does have dental disease (most likely, I'm afraid) her breath will be bad. Checking her breath will be easier than checking her gum line. Jade has AWFUL gingivitis and is looking at more extractions. Next time you're at the vet, Apple, ask the Dr to check Loreena's teeth because it IS hard to do on your own, and believe me, I've tried. You are looking for a blood red line all along the bottom of her teeth. She might let you pull her lip back to check. If she does have it, it's not hard to see.
Best of luck, Apple. Hugs to you and the girls. ♥
Cold , as usual. But not too cold - ambient temp - its winter here but this last 3 days are warmer than the previous and Lolo is almost always indoor so she is drinking from the indoor bowl
What was you wondering about? Pain for cold liquid?Warm water in the summer? Any other thing?
OPus, I didnt check so carefully her teeth this last days - the idea never crossed my mind til now but I can tell you her tongue is pink and ok
But she is eating and playing/biting without showing pain so I guess theres nothing wrong with teeth and guns.
I will check later, just in case
She did some yesterday night and today morning - lets hope is all getting right from now on
As a said to the vet : cats must have being created to be trainers of budhist monks or similar - what a lot of patience you need to understand those a little bit :-)
what temp is the water that your giving her? is it cold, luke warm or warm?
I'm so sorry apple to hear Lolo is having problems....have you ever checked her teeth? often with a change in usual habits mainly drinking and eating it can be b/c of dental pain....you know how it hurts especially to drink when you have a sensitive tooth...
check her teeth...is it really red around the base of her teeth along the gum line?
if so than she has gingivitis and this can cause alot of pain.....
Just a thought..otherwise I'm not sure.
In cases of kidney diseases its the opposite and cats will drink and pee much more than normal, same with diabetes...so to drink less all I can think of is dental problems, anyone else have any thoughts????
