My method is pretty the same as stated, except for one thing... I don't use pet clippers. They have a tendancy to crack the claw. I use sharp toenail clippers that way the clippers are aligned and less likely to crack the claw and hurt the quick.
I have not tried that Pedipaws thing or other products like it. I saw one being being used, the noise alone would make my cats nervous, even if used it as a play toy first.
i also do my own cats nails.... she lets me tho not much of a fight ... since she was a baby i always played with her paws so i guess it kinda got her used to it..... i would sit down and put the cat in your lap like opus said to do and if she freaks out a first about you touching her paws, just start slow.... slowly working your trust up...touch them, then squeeze a little, if she runs away wait a lil while and do it again...and again ...and again.....eventually she will sit there and let you do what you want to her paws......good luck!
first of all do you have the proper clippers for cats claws?..
sit kitty on your knees and pet him and talk quietly getting him very relaxed before starting will help alot.
what I do is gently sit kitty on my knees and hold one paw squeezing gently on the pad and nails will extend outwards, than I clip a nail...only a very small amount shorter, take great care NOT to cut into the quick(dark area within nail)...if this happens the nail will bleed and be very painful for kitty.
I do my kitties alone all the time, its a matter of getting kitty to relax.
Maybe try to do one nail at each sitting to get kitty accustomed.
good luck, let us know if this worked out for you, or maybe someone else will post more ideas..
