kitten bleeding from bottom

My little 9 week old kitten Jazz is mad, he is running around, eating wet food fine and seems normal. He went to the toilet (for a number 2) a day and a half ago and i noticed there was a bit of blood that followed after. Since then he has not gone for a poo. Do you think this is constipation? and the blood was from straining to hard? I read giving them a bit of cod liver oil in their food would help from constipation is this right? Advice needed!!!! Cheers

P.S. He has been wormed.

Definitely, if it is bright blood then it might have been a tear. What are you feeding him? Certain foods lack the necessary fiber and fats. You can also add physillium husk, just a bit, to his foods. It does wonders and prevents severe constipation.

Is his anus swollen or his belly distended?    Is he drinking enough water and peeing normally?  He could have an intestinal impaction, worms, or any number of things.  Giving him caster oil will irritate his intestines, is likely to cause him to vomit, and dehydrate.

Thanks for the advice. Yes it is bright red blood. I will see if he gets better by the weekend. If not off to the vets the poor little one goes!

hi Ella and welcome.
usually when its 'fresh..bright red' blood this (as in humans) is due to a small tear in the anal opening when passing a hard stool....in most cases its the darker blood that can be a sign of problems.
I would just watch him for a bit and see how all his movements are and how hard.
Castor oil is good...just don't over do it!
If there continues to be blood I would speak to a Vet.
good luck
