Post procedure dizziness in cat

My 12-year-old male cat was seen by my vet on Friday (Nov 19, 2010) for treatment of a neck abrasion.  My cat is diabetic.  He gets very nervous at the vet's and can bite, so in order to shave the hair from around the wound for proper treatment, sedation was given ( gas).  He was given Metacam injection (0.1 ml), Baytril injection (35 mg) during the procedure.  Ever since this procedure, he has not regained his balance.  He tilts to the right.  My cat is  13.8 lb. and neutered.  He has been back to the vet for further testing.  I now administer 12.5 mg Meclizine one time daily for the next 2 weeks.  He is eating, however, not as much as he was eating before.   He likes to be in seclusion now in dark places he can find.  His right third eyelid is prolapsed.  Anisocoria is noted.  My cat is an indoor cat only and always enjoyed being on the screen porch and ate with gusto!  I'm heartbroken to see him like this.  I continue treatment with my vet, but would love another opinion as to why he has not bounced back from a normally routine incident.

Metacam can be a rather tricky and risky drug.  There is a very slight difference between a thearaputic dose and a toxic one.  Considering your cat's age and diabetic condition, it may not have been the best choice for pain management.
